BLASER, ISAAC BEN MOSES SOLOMON

   Lithuanian rabbi and educator. He was born in Vilna. A disciple of Israel Salanter, he served as rabbi in St Petersburg and later settled in Kovno, Lithuania, where he headed the advanced talmudic academy. He helped to found the yeshivah of Slobodka. In 1904 he emigrated to Palestine and settled in Jerusalem. He made an important contri-bution to the Musar movement in his emphasis on acquiring piety by emotional meditation on works of musar.
